Marianne’s love of black and white work carries over into her color photography as well. Both focus on form, light and texture. Some of her favorite subjects are the furry creatures that enrich her life.
Currently she works primarily in digital formats to create her art. Creation of prints - in the darkroom or at the computer - has always been her favorite part of the photographic process. She does all of her own digital processing and archival printing and views each finished print as an exciting little miracle.
Marianne’s artistic philosophy is captured in a passage from the T.S. Eliot poem Burnt Norton: “Except for the point, the still point, there would be no dance, and there is only the dance.” To her this verse not only reflects a yogic philosophy of life, but also perfectly expresses the ability of a photograph to capture the passion of life in the stillness of a single moment.
